Alexandru Aciu was co-founder and Chief Science Officer of Vision Research Inc. A Romanian-origin engineer, Aciu is a pioneer of ultra-high-speed digital imaging technology. He is the author of the fundamental patent [US 5,625,412] (1997), which formed the basis for the development of specialized CMOS sensors, ultra-fast storage systems, and the entire Phantom range – a 100% Romanian product.

Together with Radu Corlan and Petru Pop, who won an Oscar for their exceptional contribution to slow-motion cinematography, Alexandru Aciu formed a Romanian core of technical excellence that revolutionized the ultra-high-speed imaging industry. His technical contributions brought significant progress in laboratory imaging and ballistics, and the collaboration between the three Romanian engineers led to internationally recognized results.Vision Research maintains a strong focus on R&D, with its global technical support headquarters in Bucharest, Romania.

The research center in the USA is named the Alexandru Aciu Research Centre (Wayne, New Jersey) – an official recognition of the Romanian contribution to this cutting-edge technology.
